Speaker: David Mantica

Bio: David has 25 years of business-to-business services, consulting, coaching, and training industry experience in roles from operations, service delivery,
marketing, product management and executive management. Just recently he successfully sold his business-to-business training firm having taken it
from $1.2m in 2005 to $13m by 2013. Currently David is current the VP and General Manager for Soft Ed US, a leading provider of transformational
training services, working to support companies embrace agile methods for achieving business results.  

Description of Presentation: 

With anything new there are going to be difficulties. What starts out a small test with a pilot team leads to a huge bandwagon affect. This is great but some
bandwagoners get nervous when the problems start and ultimately become the naysayers and finger pointers that can kill Agile before it even gets a chance to
provide benefit.

In this presentation we will discuss in detail the top issues that lead to problems deploying Agile. This session will give you the information you need to keep the
bandwagon’s wheels here on earth and avoid the bubble burst when expectations are set too high.

Problems we will discuss include:

• Self-organized team function
• Poor Product Owner performance
• Lack of adequate training and coaching
• No change management plan
• Lack of executive support (no psychological safety, no democratized decision making)
• Inconsistent business unit support
• Agile in practice only

Ultimately Agile success requires an organization to do some creative destruction which leads to inefficiency and confusion for a period of time. Be prepared to
weather that storm by preparing your sponsors and management with an understanding of the problems you will face on your road to incorporating Agile
methods into your organization.
