April President's Message

A word from the President

“I am honored to be a part of PMICVC (Richmond and C ‘Ville.) volunteers. Please don’t hesitate to ask me to volunteer at any project, either in Richmond or C ’Ville.” PMICVC Volunteer March 2021

Hello and Thank You,

Thank you for your continued support of PMI and PMICVC. Every day we recognize that life outside our virtual offices, life in Central Virginia, has been jammed packed. We, our friends and families are all navigating politics, pandemic and projects. With all this, I am thankful and inspired by the many projects our Central Virginia Chapter of volunteers has completed or pushed forward in the first quarter.

Based on feedback from our member community some of these projects include adding professional development courses for our members covering PMP, Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM) and Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP).  In March, we co-hosted a lunchtime event with PMI Rochester and will have more events with Hampton Roads, Northeast Ohio and more opportunities to earn PDU’s and network virtually with professionals from other parts of the country.  Our Volunteer Recognition Event committee developed and executed a plan to move us to a virtual celebration and in March, they managed a project that took even more coordination than a face-to-face event. Very well done!

During this event, we had the opportunity to appreciate our volunteers and celebrate our 2020 Volunteer of the Year, Danielle Dodge.  It is rare to have someone so impactful, so quickly and also be a consistently giving volunteer.  Please see more about Danielle here and if you want to experience working with Danielle please join us as a volunteer to experience her exceptional servant leadership as well as the servant leadership that our team exudes.

We are looking forward to an equally productive 2nd quarter with more vacations, vaccinations and volunteers. Our volunteers are the wind that carries us day after day and year after year. Did you know that the week of April 18-24, 2021is National Volunteer Week?  Please look for more opportunities to engage with us and our community around these days.  We will also share are Volunteer of the Quarter later this month as we get closer to April 20th, Volunteer Recognition Day.

Join us and experience why one of our volunteers shared this quote with me “I am honored to be a part of PMICVC (Richmond and C ‘Ville.) volunteers. Please don’t hesitate to ask me to volunteer at any project, either in Richmond or C ’Ville.”  All I can say is, DITTO.

Please stay safe and well and I look forward to serving you this quarter and seeing you  in the near future as we follow our CDC and State of VA Guidelines on Covid-19.
