David is an economist from his education, a Product Manager from over 20 years of experience and a business owner and executive from over 15 years of experience. Overall, David has 23 years of business-to-business services, consulting, coaching and training industry experience in roles from operations, service delivery, marketing, product management and executive management. Just recently he successfully sold his business-to-business training firm having taken it from $1.2m in 2005 to $13m by 2013.
He has delivered over 400 presentations (face-to-face or web seminars) to over 15,000 professional and he has been the product manager or executive sponsor in the design, development and go to market strategy on over 350 training courses. He has an impressive portfolio of goal-driven successes identifying market opportunities in the training sector and responding with training product development initiatives. Services developed by his firms have addressed skills gaps in a range of industries, including: the software development life cycle, many IT topics, professional skills, telecommunications, finance, healthcare IT and marketing.”
David is the current COO/ CRO for Revibe Technologies, the manufacturer of the world’s first focus tracker wearable device.
Presentation Title: The Disruptive Impact of Digital Transformation on the Project Management Environment
In a nutshell, Digital Transformation is all about data. Whether you are using it to make business decisions or selling it for a profit, data is the output of value from our digital world. We’ve doubled the amount of it over the last two years and we get it from places we never thought possible (think IoT). We can’t handle all this data but computers can. Computers can use it to “learn” and we can tell the computers what we want them to “learn”. But do we really know how to use this data. Do we really know what to direct the computers to learn? Do we really know what is valuable and what isn’t?
This is the dilemma that will impact Project Management and SDLC work for the next three to five years. The questions that will be asked and will need to be answered include: What data does my company produce now that is of value? What data of value could we collect that we are not currently collecting? What decisions could be improved/sped up with better data? What data could we leverage for profit?
Why do these questions need to be answered? Project Managers will be pushed to do more with less, to show value and to increase performance building to need. The pace of change and disruption dictates this and it is within Project Management were execution of change occurs.
This presentation digs into the business criticality of Digital Transformation as well as the complete DX technology picture. This is not a point solution technical session. We are NOT going to talk about sensor hook up or Hadoop verse SQL for data management or Machine Learning. We are going to discuss how the entire system is set up. What the system produces and how to use that output. In the end digital transformation produces Data, lots of it and automation. Will you use that data to speed up decisions and operate more efficiently internally or will you use it for profit or both, either way you have to understand the value of data and the business disruption it causes. We will do all this through the lens of Project Management and SDLC work.
