A Holiday "Giving" Extravaganza!


Speaker: Daphne Swanson - President & CEO of Junior Achievement of Central Virginia

Daphne joined Junior Achievement of Central Virginia (JACV) in March of 2005 and was made president and CEO of the organization in 2011. 

Prior to joining JACV, Daphne worked at Deloitte where she was an In-charge auditor primarily working with clients in the mortgage and financial industries as well as local government. She also worked in the banking and mortgage industry prior to joining Deloitte.

She is originally from upstate New York, but moved to Norfolk, Virginia where she attended and graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.  She received a Post-Baccalaureate Degree in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University and shortly after became a Certified Public Accountant. 

Daphne currently serves on the board of ChamberRVA, the Virginia Career and Technical Education Advisory Board, and the Henrico Fire Fighter Foundation.  She is on the Advisory Board for BB&T of Richmond and is a member of the West Richmond Rotary, serving on its Service Projects Committee and Diversity Committee.   She is an alumni of Leadership Metro Richmond, class of 2015.

Junior Achievement has 108 local JA Areas across the nation, and together we are the nation's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices. JA's programs—in the core content areas of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy—ignite the spark in young people to experience and realize the opportunities and realities of work and life in the 21st century.


Holiday Giving

As the Holidays are among us, let's look to those in need - families, friends and neighbors, and our furry friends.  We will have 2 collection opportunities at the event - FeedMore and SPCA.  The items that both are in need of are listed below - check back often for updates!  Please bring at least 1 item to give to those in need!

  • Peanut Butter
  • Lean Canned Protein (tuna, salmon, chicken in water)
  • Canned Vegetables (low sodium/no salt)
  • Canned Fruits (own juice or water)
  • Tomato Products (spaghetti sauce and dried tomatoes)
  • Beans (canned or dry)
  • Whole Grain Cereal (hot or cold)
  • Whole Grains (pasta, brown rice, or quinoa)
  • Healthy Snacks (fruit cups, raisins, granola bars)
  • Cat Litter (dust-free)                                              
  • Towels, blankets
