PMI CVC Professional Development - Maintaining Your Certification

There are five categories. For the official rules on gaining, please refer to the PDU qualifying activities section of the PMI website. Below is a summary for how you can gain through activity with your local chapter.

Category 1 - Have you attended a formal academic course after certification through VCU or other academic program? If so, these are counted under this category.

Category 2 - Have you volunteered to instruct a certification seminar? This is one way you can gain credit in this category. You can also author or co-author articles, professional papers, and books. Here are some Guidelines for submitting professional papers.

Category 3 - Attending monthly chapter meetings and educational seminars is one way of gaining. You also may be able to claim credit for training you have attended. If the event was hosted by a PMI registered education provider, you should be able to find it in the PMI online listings. PMI CVC is a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP), and you can find our event numbers and other information in the Chapter Activity Log.

Category 4 - PDUs may be earned by attending relevant educational programs offered by organizations not registered with PMI. PMI CVC does not provide Category 4 events.

Category 5 - Get involved with your local chapter! You can gain PDUs as an officer or committee member in a variety of areas. You may also qualify for PDUs if you donate your project management expertise to a community or charitable group.

Need to check how many PDUs you currently have? PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements Online PDU Resources provides the ability to review your PMP transcripts and enter PDUs online.
