Spring 2010 PMP Workshop FAQs

The Spring 2010 Workshop will be offered 3 Saturdays May 8, 15, and 22 from 8:30 to 5:00pm. Registration will open in March 2010. The course evaluations over the last several Workshops have prompted the Committee to address common misconceptions regarding the Workshop.

What the Workshop is and isn’t:

The PMP Certification Prep Workshop is not a class on project management theory. Nor is it a “boot camp” where upon completion a student can go right out and take the PMP Exam. The PMP Workshop will provide students a framework and guidance on how to conduct their studies to prepare for the Exam. When comparing all the opportunities and venues to prepare for the Exam, look at the value you get with the Workshop. Compare it to the cost of “boot camps” available.

The workshop has been updated to include all the changes from PMBOK 4.

Who should consider attending the Workshop?
Anyone interested in preparing themselves to take either the PMP or CAPM certification exams.

Anyone who has their PMP and would like to earn 24 PDU’s.

Who are the instructors?
The instructors are volunteers - from PMI CVC in most cases. All are seasoned project managers and have obtained their PMP certifications. In all cases they are giving back to the profession and to the Chapter membership. As volunteers and project managers, it’s important to realize that they are not entertainers nor are they training public speakers in all cases. They are dedicated professionals working in our profession sharing their time, experience, and knowledge.

Where is the Workshop held?
The Spring 2010 PMP Workshop will he held at the Sheraton Park South Hotel, 9901 Midlothian Turnpike, Richmond, VA 23253. This is also the location for the Southside dinner meetings. See the flyer for directions.
